Labor Day sales are rolling in, and Lifehacker is sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price-tracking tools before they’re over. You can also subscribe to our shopping newsletter, Add to Cart, for the best sales sent to your inbox.
Early Labor Day sales have arrived, and if you’re in the market for a new tablet (especially useful for students with September just around the corner), the Google Pixel Tablet is currently 38% off, marking its lowest price ever.
The 128GB version has dropped to $250, while the 256GB version is also on sale at 34% off. Featuring an 11-inch display screen and 8MP front and rear cameras, the Pixel Tablet comes with Google Assistant for hands-free use and Google AI to assist with everyday tasks and help you edit photos easily. Gemini can help with productivity tasks like brainstorming, note-taking, and more, while the Quick Share feature (similar to Air Drop) allows you to securely share files like videos and photos with nearby devices.
While the battery is advertised as providing up to 12 hours of video streaming off a single charge, testing from PCMag shows that it didn't live up to that claim, but there's only a half-hour difference between the tested battery life on the Pixel tablet and the iPad. The same review notes that it charged from 0 to 10% in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Users also praise the lack of lag, smooth interface, and front-facing speakers that deliver clear audio. One reviewer compares it to a “smartphone on steroids,” noting that it handles many laptop-like tasks but with a more lightweight build.
Keep in mind that this tablet doesn’t include the docking station, which turns it into a Nest Hub-style smart display with built-in speakers and enabled casting. It also doesn’t include a stylus and may not be ideal for those who prefer a high-refresh display. That said, if you’re already in the Android or Pixel ecosystem with devices like the Pixel phone, earbuds, or watch, the Google Pixel Tablet is a great add-on for easy audio switching and smart home control, especially at the current price ahead of Labor Day.
